Vincent Clare was born into an artistic family. He was the son of George Clare and the brother of Oliver, all of whom were well regarded painters of still life. His paintings were of a similar subject matter to his father and brother, with flowers or fruit depicted on mossy banks or woodland floors in the style of WH Hunt. He is known to have been working in Birmingham at the turn of the century and exhibited at the Walker Art Gallery Liverpool from 1888 to 1897.
